The Treatment Aversion Model (TAM)

Presented at the poster session during the 2018 PAIDEIA Conference at Christopher Newport University, the Treatment Aversion Model (TAM) focused on the factors that prevent individuals from seeking treatment for mental illness. The project is a proposal for a training method to decrease the societal stigma surrounding mental illness and increase treatment seeking behavior. TAM combines motivational theory, social psychology, and behaviorism to discover the source of this stigma.
